Sister Act: to be a ‘Sister Act’; the act of being a ’Sister Act’ – An individual, institution or law etc. that pretends to be on the side of someone/something that suffers from the negative influence of gender oppression, but does so purely in the interests of self-gain or to (in particular) to make social, political or economic capital. Eg. As in “you are such a sister act”; “don’t bother: they’re so sister act”; “the government’s latest equality drive was branded 100 per cent pure sister act” (meaning: 100 per cent self-interest-100 per cent pure dogshit).
